Oli’s Boxship
by: AMS MACARAEG

When I started Homeschooling, I felt a bit intimidated with the preparations needed in doing our lessons, most especially in Science. Because I have an eclectic approach in terms of the method in which we homeschool, the schedule and the lesson planning are some of the things I also have to consider and take note of. In the beginning of the school year, I plot the lessons and activities we plan to do each quarter, and then months, and then weeks. As you may have already figured out if you have been reading my posts, I like customizing my children’s education and that includes choosing specific curriculums and materials to use.

What is Oli’s Boxship?

Oli’s Boxship is s a monthly subscription (activity) box delivering themed hands-on creative play, designed specifically for kids ages 4 and above. As per their website, it says,

“The activities go beyond arts and crafts and revolve around STEAM topics (Science, Technology, Enginerring, Art and Math). Projects transform kids into mini makers, scientists and inventors and their finished crafts turn into interactive games, role-play, dress-up, toys and much more.”

When I first heard about Oli’s Boxship, I really got excited and glad that finally, we now have something new and highly educational for the kids to do at home. In this day and age of excessive media consumption among families, it is great to have this alternative to spend valuable time with our children in a very beneficial way. Not only will the kids enjoy doing the activities, but they get to learn too, in the process!

How Does it Work?

Oli’s Boxship offer different subscription plans that you can choose from. You can try a box first which contains 2 sets of activities, or better yet, go for their bestseller which is the 3-month plan in which each month, Oli’s Boxship will be sending you a themed box that you can enjoy with your children.

“Oli’s Boxship believes in engaging kids in creative play to promote an unplugged childhood and learning through play. It builds their creative confidence and fosters their creativity and curiosity.”

What I Love About Oli’s Boxship

“Each Boxship includes all the materials you need for 2/+ activities – a Craftivity and a Funcycle activity; a storybook that will have kids learning and playing; a Discover with Oli magazine that includes easy instructions, fun facts, comics and other activities.”

It’s a complete set which contains literally EVERY SINGLE THING that you will need to complete an activity. What a great deal for busy moms like me, especially if we do not have the time to source the materials needed for our crafts or lessons. This got me really excited since all we need to do is open the box, examine the contents, follow the instructions and start crafting!

For the Color My World Activity Box, we were able to have an experiment on Density. We made a Density Tower Rainbow Jar which taught my daughter about molecules and how each of their specific densities affect their ability to float or sink. What is so nice about this is that, we were actually having a Unit Study that talked about the different Scientific Methods, and this was the perfect experiment to apply those that we have learned like Observation, Inferring, and Communication. Doing this Craftivity helped us test our theories, and come up with a finished product that we could present as output for our Homeschool Portfolio. Talk about hitting two birds with one stone!

We really had fun doing this very educational activity. Hands-on learning like this make concepts stick better for our children. I can only say good things about how well Oli’s Boxship has carefully curated these boxes for all types of families, including homeschoolers. If you want to have themed activities with no prep-work needed at all, this is the BEST Subscription Box I can recommend!

Another fun art activity we did was the Funcycle Paper Bleeding Art. I think my youngest who is only 3 years old, was really so happy that she could help in doing this. This is also something we could present as an output for MAPEH (Art) for my first grader. Don’t you just love seeing your kids work together? It’s wonderful watching them in action!

If you are like me and my family who love doing crafts and activities, I suggest you try out Oli’s Boxship! It’s really so worth it! They now also have party favors which would be great for birthdays, or as giveaways for kiddie events. Go ahead and inquire now!

Thank you so much, Oli!
